Trail-Making Task (TMT)
🧠Cognitive Function | Processing speed & Task switching
🕒Duration | 5 minutes
🖥️ Devices you can use to take this task | Desktop, Tablet, Mobile
🎯Output | Completion time
25 circles with numbers are presented on the screen and participants are instructed to connect them by clicking the circles in the order as fast as possible. This study contains three trials of Trail-Making Task A (1-2-3-4-5-6-…) and 3 trials of Trail-Making Task B (1-A-2-B-3-C-…).
The completion time of the trail provides a measure of the participant’s processing speed and executive function. The Trail-Making Task B also provides a measure of task-switching ability.
The six trail maps are randomly chosen from a pool of 100 pre-made maps without replacement. The maps were generated using a “divide-and-combine” approach (Zeng et al. 2017).
